Christmas Weekend

Well, Christmas has come and gone. It's Boxing Day here in Samoa, where you put all your goods back and get ready for the new year. I had a nice Christmas, talked to Aubrey and the parents and hung out with Candice and Ryan. We had pizza and watched movies and enjoyed the Christmas spirit.
So now I'm looking forward to the new year and getting things underway here. I have a few options to explore in January before my primary job at the school starts. I also think I'll be doing some surfing and travelling to the other island. Having time on my hands leaves a lot of flexibility for the next five weeks.
Christmas here was quiet. Most families have a celebration during the day, drink a lot and go to Church. Christmas is less a day and more of a week-long thing for Samoans. I'll be heading out to the village soon to visit my host family and see how they're doing. Some other volunteers were out there, so I'm excited to see my host family as well. More to come later.

Hi Charles!
I am Andrew's Mom and I just found out that we have common friends in the Taylor's in Chapel Hill. I am glad to know that there a few good people in Samoa with my son.

Carla,

I'm Charles' father. I ride the bus with Virginia Taylor almost every morning. She mentioned that they had friends whose son was in the Peace Corps.

Small world!!

Hi Walt!
Small world and getting smaller. Glad to meet you. We have enjoyed the Taylor's a great deal. They are really special to us. Give them a hug for us. We haven't seen them for a couple of years.
